matt leahey ($LiMs) this record does a fantastic job of bringing darkwave into the next decade. it provides a much-needed change-up to the dynamics of the genre's sound, with fantastic songwriting to boot. this dynamic duo makes a push toward the future with witty samples and creative dynamic shifts, yet stay true to the genre's roots by using an entirely analog setup.

there's not a single miss on here. buried statues are a force to be reckoned with, and "district" is a hell of a debut. 8/10. Favorite track: Cape May.

No one is safe It’s bound to break down Keep on reaching out I keep on reaching out It’s all at stake And taking its toll.= Push it into place Force the fracture of order Another life From every inch we have gained and lost again A better place What bitter promise have I sheltered in desire - Let my heart unravel slow While I fade into the blaze Re-emerge when life is still Only to vanish in its wake No more faith No more cold hell My hands have cut the hand That guide these hands of mine To survive On the whims Bent and torn From the distance All my life To deform A frame of mind I’m here at the alter A paradise In every relic we have shaped and stowed away Another time Some cherished meaning in a moment long ago - When it’s gone we’ve given in Bound by memory down below Hold it close, march on within A life that ends where it must go No more faith No more hell Hands on my face Pressing down on me I keep on reaching “A survivor. Unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.” To survive On the whims Bent and torn From the distance All my life To deform A frame of mind I’m here at the alter I keep on reaching out To survive On the whims Bent and torn From the distance All my life To deform A frame of mind I’m here at the alter

Drive Drive all night Where the rituals line each side of the road Live Live your life Crawling out of the of the skin they built for you Time Time it flies Can you feel the impromptu grip of the blame Stay Stay out late Til the light of the day if it’s what it takes It took all of my friends to come around When it’s all that we had we make a sound I can keep it in tact And keep they’re hands away - It took all of my friends to come around When it’s all that we had we make a sound I can keep it in tact And dance til the light of day - The cult of immediacy Tell Tell me again They were praying with all 4 hands to god Let Let it dissolve Crawling out of the skin they built for you Rise Rise and fall What we want to be changing stays the same Stay Stay out late Til the light of the day show me what it takes It took all of my friends to come around When it’s all that we had we make a sound I can keep it in tact And keep they’re hands away - It took all of my friends to come around When it’s all that we had we make a sound I can keep it in tact And dance til the light of day - The cult of immediacy

You struck a chord And carry just the bare essentials Empty eyes and cyanide for days We’re splitting hairs And feeding my aggression It isn’t me who’s standing here - So hit the nerve Until my veins are black and blue I’m always standing in the corner of the hallway ... of the hallway Sharp as knives I’m not afraid So let them try To underestimate - This place is not for me and you Fanning the flames I’m always standing in the corner of the hallway We’re fanning the flames This place is not for me and you You crossed a line And flaunt obscure and strange medallions Solar flairs, these remnants of the plague We’re getting by On myth and superstition This isn’t you there’s no one there - I’ll hit the nerve Until you’ve broken us in two I’ll still be standing in the corner of the hallway ...of the hallway Sharp as knives I’m not afraid So let them try To underestimate - This place is not for me and you Fanning the flames I’m always standing in the corner of the hallway We’re fanning the flames This place is not for me and you I said we’re fanning the flames I’m always standing in the corner of the hallway I said we’re fanning the flames This place is not for me and you Fanning the flame

Afterimage 04:13
Afterimage Lifted up the fragments of grace Every instinct fell Upon the weight on my shoulders I told her to stay She showed me the way I searched for the key To heaven It’s pressing down upon me As the world goes by It’s digging deeper in And slowly I surrender Pick up the pieces Of the things I never had Look for the memories When there’s nothing to remember - It seems so easy to forget - And yet I fell in love with the future I fell in love with the price we pay I fell in love with the future After the images fade away Afterimage Rose above the hands on my face All the rain came down Upon the weight on my shoulders I rose from the grave And wasted away While holding the key To heaven It’s pressing down upon me As the world goes by It’s digging deeper in And slowly I surrender Pick up the pieces Of the things I never had Look for the memories When there’s nothing to remember It seems so easy to forget - And yet I fell in love with the future I fell in love with the price we pay I fell in love with the future After the images fade away - I fell in love with the future I fell in love with the light of day I fell in love with the future After the images fade away

Sleeper Cell 05:04
Owed all you have needed In the dark the debt pays out Do not look down - Hold on to a feeling In the light as worlds collide It burns inside In search of sanctum, falling further away Dystopic permanence we dance in the sun Eyes watching closely No signal or sign - Carelessly tending to your wounded and dead Watch as he flinches, weakness leaving his heart Time passes slowly No memory, no life, no pain Dormant, volatile and tame Harbors all that lies in wait until Fractured, fraught, a dark unnamed This trigger pulls, bent to my will Strike and clasp a rift un-quelled Swift crashing flanks to formless black Hold them close, a voice compels Panic attacks a sleeper cell Owed all you have needed In the dark the debt pays out Do not look down - Hold on to a feeling In the light as worlds collide The gift of life Lost and elated, hours fritter and waste Put down the animal, control the condemned Keep breathing deeply Give nothing away - Depraved indifference unencumbered, enthralled A pound a flesh, a hole the size of your head Partitioned patients The breaking of load bearing walls No sanctum, no sign! New eyes, no signal! No memory, no life There is no pain! Dormant, volatile and tame Harbors all that lies in wait until Fractured, fraught, a dark unnamed This trigger pulls, bent to my will Strike and clasp a rift un-quelled Swift crashing flanks to formless black Hold them close, a voice compels Panic attacks...! No sanctum, no sanctum, no sign Dormant, volatile and tame Harbors all that lies in wait until Fractured, fraught, a dark unnamed This trigger pulls, bent to my will Strike and clasp a rift un-quelled Swift crashing flanks to formless black Hold them close, a voice compels Panic attacks a sleeper cell!

Cape May 05:45
When we fall And all we know is gone Our silent dreams will walk the world And our souls will stand in the sun light - Out in the waves I have been With no one in my skin Can we go away Islands of my nothingness Are home when I’m in love With you Close to me today Shades of gold and auburn Dance between the shadows cast On your face Whispering to you All you are is all I believe in Out on the shore Where we go down for the day I want to be where we are So long as I am with you Then I’ll stay I wanted all of your heart And all of your love at Cape May Lost in black Across the tied we stroll the wade Bound by the words that come to life As all though your voice parades through eternity Out in the waves I will be Forgetting all I’ve seen I want to come to life Out on the shore Where we go down for the day I want to be where we are So long as I am with you then I’ll stay I’ll give you all of my heart And all of my love at Cape May Here where we are Here is today All of my heart All of my love at Cape May

about

District is our debut release. This EP represents almost 2 years of work and only features the 6 tracks that we felt most closely connected two out of the dozen or so that were written. This release used only hardware synthesizers and drum machines and was mixed down on reel to reel tape.

We are obsessed with sound design and analog gear. We design all of our synth patches from the ground up, so we are able to capture truly how we felt when we wrote these songs. However, early on a power surge in our studio fried a bunch of our original gear, but not before the sequences were recorded. For this reason many of the synth patches, sequences and sounds we were able to capture in this EP will never be heard anywhere else ever again.

If you would like to collaborate or for any reason want these files in a format not offered by Bandcamp, please reach out to our studio on Instagram and get in touch (@mechanizerstudios).
